- 16/07/2010
- Bertie Blackman is pleased to announce she has been personally selected by band and management to support Powderfinger on their last ever Sydney show on their Sunsets Farewell Tour.
The show will take place at the Sydney Acer Arena in Sydney’s Homebush on Saturday November 6, 2010.
A spokesman for Powderfinger said, “Powderfinger are big fans of Bertie’s and are extremely excited to have her on board”.
Powderfinger’s Sunset Tour has already sold over 175,000 tickets with 25 of their 34 shows sold out several months prior to the performances.
Joining the bill on what is looking like one of the biggest farewells to a band in the history of Australian music is “extremely flattering” says Bertie. “It’s very cool to be chosen by my musical peers to help send them out in a rockin’ fashion! And for this farewell tour to be not only giving something back to their fans, but raising funds and awareness for both the Yalari Foundation and StarKids, well that’s just the icing on the cake”.
Powderfinger have partnered with The Yalari Foundation for their farewell tour. Yalari sponsors Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from regional, rural and remote areas to attend boarding schools all around the country so they can receive the a first class education through full boarding scholarships at the highest achieving secondary schools.
Jetstar (a sponsor of the Sunsets Tour) and World Vision created StarKids to help improve the lives of some of the world's poorest children. Funds raised through StarKids will fund projects in a number of Jetstar's destinations including Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and even Australia.
Tickets for the final Sydney show at Acer Arena, Homebush on 6th November 2010 are sold out. For more information about Powderfinger’s Sunsets Farewell Tour head to www.powderfinger.com/sunsetstour.
