- Congratulations to Bertie Blackman on her fantastic win at the 2009 ARIA Awards where Bertie took home BEST INDEPENDENT ALBUM for ‘Secrets and Lies’ among a tough field of competitors including The Drones, Dappled Cities and former ARIA winners Sneaky Sound System.
This is the debut ARIA win for Bertie Blackman, who is thrilled to be flying the flag for Independent Australian Music; having also taken out the award for BREAKTHROUGH INDEPENDENT ARTIST OF THE YEAR at the 2009 AIR Awards earlier this month.
These prestigious awards come off the back of constant support throughout 2009 from all corners of the Australia music industry, press and radio; in particular from triple j, Nova, street press and community radio nationwide.
Receiving an ARIA Award provides a fantastic ending to 2009, which has been an incredibly busy year for Bertie Blackman and has seen both her and Forum 5 firmly placed on the Australian music map. 2010 promises to be equally as fruitful for Bertie internationally, particularly in the UK where she is already receiving support from radio and press.
